We would like to thank every one for their generous donation to the Zachary Tyler Raffety Memorial Foundation. Our purpose for setting up this foundation is to educate teens and parents to unique risks faced by young drivers and their teen passengers.
We have made a decision to attach Zach's foundation to an established foundation called the JourneySafe Outreach Program. We have chosen JourneySafe because we feel their philosophy and goals match the values we wish to convey.
Please visit www.journeysafe.org to learn more about their program. Soon there will be a link for Zach on this website.
There are 6,000 teens killed in automobile crashes each year, that's 18 per day. The primary cause is distraction, error due to inexperience and speed. We plan to speak with teens and parents at Orange County high schools, teen organizations and churches.
As well as the teen driver, the teen passengers are also responsible for speaking up and encouraging positive peer pressure for making informed choices behind the wheel. Parent involvement is also critical. Parents need to be more aware of situations in which teens are driving or riding with friends.
Again, we thank every one who have extended condolences to us.
Sincerely,
Cary & Jennifer Raffety
